Need Help Caring for Your Woodlands?
The Woodland Stewardship Committee can help!
Our Mission is to empower people with knowledge and skills to care for, improve, protect, and enjoy their woodlands.
We provide:
Opportunities to learn form experienced woodlot owners.
Presentations covering topics like forest health, invasive plant treatment, and planning for the future of your woodlot.
Opportunities for hands on learning during our site visits.
Assistance in choosing a consulting forester.
Public forums for landowners too ask questions directly to professionals.
Woodlot owners have a lot of things working against them:
Invasive plants like stiltgrass, mile-a-minute, oriental bittersweet and honeysuckle bushes.
Forest pests and diseases are more common then ever: spongy moth, emerald ash borer, hemlock woolly adelgid, and beech bark diseases have already affected millions of acres of forest land.
Poor land management practices like diameter limit cutting, aka select cut harvesting, which are unsustainable practices.
